Public schools close for October holiday

New York City public schools serving Sunnyside families will be closed Monday, October 12, 2026, for Italian Heritage/Indigenous Peoples' Day. The scheduled closure applies to the city's public school calendar for students from 3-K through grade 12. Families whose children attend private, parochial, or charter schools, NYC Early Education Centers, or family childcare programs should confirm arrangements directly with their child's provider because those calendars may differ.
